medicineforthemeeksays:
Medicine For The Meek formed in early 2007 when singer songwriter Shara Meek collaborated with some of Leeds Finest musicians. This unmistakable hybrid of country rock, folk and Spanish influences, blended with compelling vocals and embracing melodies, brings you the unique sound that no other band has. Medicine For The Meek is without a doubt a captivating live band with an unusual twist. Prepare to be enticed into their western world where the tales of the unexpected come true. Each member of Medicine For The Meek has extensive live experience. Our experience ranges from Leeds Fest to Latitude, Radio Humberside to Radio One, from audiences of 100 to 70,000 at Leeds Party In The Park. Creator of the band and lead singer Shara Meek, co presented, alond side Alan Raw, the Topman Unsigned stage at last summers Leeds Fest on behalf of BBC Raw Talent and Leeds Metropolitan University. GIG REVIEWS... "Shara and her merry band of Meeksters opened up our Wrathstonbury 2007 all-dayer with a beautiful melody and brooding fury set in some dusty backwater of the southern states. You could almost taste the tequila and ribs, which is delightfully strange considering the venue is a glittery WMC in the heart of Leeds 6. The early afternoon gig goers were floored by Shara’s lavish tones - all in all a cracking start to the day" By Steve Morricone - Wrath Records With the powerful vocals of singer-songwriter Shara Meek, and the rhythmical guitar-playing, which includes influences from Spain, country rock and folk, this is no ordinary band. Despite only being formed in early 2007, they are already attracting a loyal following, as witnessed at their recent gig at Carpe Diem in Leeds. With a new demo soon to be available on their myspace site, this is definitely a band, who are going places in 2008. Keep Music Live – Leeds Music Promotions Paul Abraham. 26th January 2008.
