About The Actionettes
The Actionettes are an all-girl, 12-strong dance troupe who perform synchronized routines to songs by 60s girl groups – think The Shangri-Las, The Ronettes and The Marvelettes (sisters-in-ette!) – and 60s pop icons such as Nancy, Dusty, Aretha and Tina. They started in January 2000, inspired by go-go dance troupe The Devilettes seen a few months earlier at the Las Vegas Grind (an annual 60s garage-rock fest). The Actionettes wanted to create the same 60s-kitsch brand of synchronized dancing, together with the costumes, attitude and the strong feminine celebration of all shapes and sizes.
