About Arctic Monkeys

Arctic Monkeys are a four-piece indie rock/post-punk revival band from High Green, a suburb of Sheffield, England. Their first two singles, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" and "When the Sun Goes Down", both went straight to number one in the UK Singles Chart. Originally established in 2002, the band currently consists of Alex Turner on lead vocals and guitar, Jamie Cook on rhythm guitar, Matt Helders on drums and backing vocals and Nick O'Malley on bass guitar, a position formerly held by Andy Nicholson. Arctic Monkeys are celebrating after their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare went straight into the US Top 10.

As well as reaching the top spot in the UK album chart the Sheffield lads have got top number 7 in across the pond.

This is a great achievement for a UK artist in what seems to be a superb year for British acts Stateside. Joss Stone, Corinne Bailey Rae and Amy Winehouse have all had big success in the US in ‘07.

The Arctic Monkeys recently played the Coachella fetival where reports suggested they were hanging out with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. It’s alright for some…
