George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou on 25 June 1963) is an English singer-songwriter of English and Greek Cypriot descent who performs soul influenced pop, and who (as a solo artist and half of the duo WHAM!) has enjoyed phenomenal global success since 1982. His biggest commercial success so far was in 1987 with his debut solo album "Faith" which sold 14 million copies on release and to date has crossed well over the 20 million mark worldwide.
